Although this was a pretty new thing for me, I realized how beneficial peer editing is. My style of peer editing has changed significantly throughout the semester. Towards the beginning, I would write things that didn’t necessarily help the author, but validated them in their ideas. This style may seem nice to the writer, but it doesn’t provide them with the feedback that they need to improve upon their paper. Towards the end, I started to look more into their ideas and challenge them by being the naysayer. This provided more help for the author because they could then expect what a naysayer may say and respond accordingly.
